The PSFS building is perhaps the most important skyscraper built in America between the Chicago School of the 1880's-1890's and the International Style of the 1950's. It is one of the most carefully executed buildings of modem times. PSFS evolved from theories of European modernism, but also spawned ideas that are finally being accepted today. It was renovated and opened as the Loews Hotel in 2000.
